DAVID McCOOEY (DEAKIN UNIVERSITY, VICTORIA)
David McCooey is a poet, critic, and academic. He is the author of two
prize-winning books: Artful Histories: Modern Australian
Autobiography (which won a NSW Premier's Literary Award in 1996) and
Blister Pack (a collection of poems that won the Mary Gilmore Award
in 2006 and was short-listed for four other major awards). David is
also the author of numerous book chapters, essays, poems, and reviews
published in national and international publications. From 2003-2006
he was the associate editor of Space: New Writing. He is the Deputy
General Editor of the forthcoming Macquarie PEN Anthology of
Australian Literature. He is a Senior Lecturer at Deakin University
(Geelong), teaching and researching in literary studies and
professional and creative writing.
